RESUMEN

Una forma de profundizar en el conocimiento de la sanidad española es el estudio de las publicaciones periódicas. Hemos recopilado la documentación sanitaria publicada en el Boletín Oficial de la Provincia de Badajoz entre los años 1833 y 1873, en los que se editan 6.671 boletines. La hemos clasificado según su contenido y según su ámbito geográfico. Con nuestro método, presentamos un primer sistema de recuperación de esta información. En el apartado de la clasificación dedicado a la enfermedad, tenemos referencias publicadas sobre: carbunco, cólera, difteria, fiebre amarilla, gripe, tifus y viruela. Suman 378 noticias. Constatamos la importante presencia de noticias sobre las tres epidemias de cólera sufridas en Badajoz dentro de este período, que impulsaron la lenta pero firme instauración de las medidas de higiene en el modo de vida de nuestra sociedad, lo que se refleja de un modo fiel en el Boletín. Nuestro estudio confirma datos de anteriores
investigaciones y aporta otros nuevos sobre las enfermedades epidémicas del siglo XIX.

ABSTRACT

A way of studying in depth the knowledge of the spanish Health is the study of the periodic publications. We have compiled the sanitary papers published in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Badajoz between the year 1833 and 1873, in that 6,671 bulletins are edited. We have classified it according to his content and according to his geographical ambience. With our method, we present the first system of recovery of this information. In the paragraph of the classification dedicated to the illness, we have references about: carbunco, cholera, diphtheria, yellow fever, flu, typhus and smallpox. They add 378 news. We state the important presence of news on three epidemics of cholera suffered in province of Badajoz inside this period, which stimulated the slow but firm restoration of the measurements of hygiene in the way of life of our society, which is reflected in a faithful way in the Bulletin. Our study confirms information of previous investigations and contributes new others on the epidemic illnesses on xixth century.
