RESUMEN

Valdismo y catarismo pasan por ser las herejías más importantes del occidente europeo en los años centrales del Medievo (siglos xii-xiii). No fueron las únicas. Otros movimientos heterodoxos causaron también notable inquietud a las autoridades católicas. Algunos, con amplia base popular, tuvieron ambiciones reformadoras y se desarrollaron a la par que la reforma oficial gregoriana. Tomarán el medio urbano como principal campo de actuación: serán los casos de la pataria milanesa o de la revolución comunal de Arnaldo de Brescia en Roma. Otros movimientos de carácter milenarista, profético o apocalíptico tendrán en Joaquín de Fiore su figura más relevante.

ABSTRACT

Valdesianism and Catharism are thought to be the most important heresies of western Europe in the central years of the Middle Ages (xii-xiii centuries). They were not the only ones. Other heterodox movements also caused serious uneasiness to Catholic authorities. Some, with a wide popular basis, had reformatory ambitions and developed at the same time as the official Gregorian reform. They took the urban medium as their main performance field: it will be the case of the Milanese homeland or the communal revolution of Arnaldo of Brescia in Rome. Other movements of a milenaristic character, either prophetic or apocalyptic, will have in Joachim of Fiore its most relevant figure.
