RESUMEN

La ordenación del terrazgo en los núcleos poblados del término de Mérida responde a la clásica distribución en anillos concéntricos, si bien por tratarse de un término muy extenso y poco humanizado, la abundancia de tierras incultas y su roturación cuando fue precisa, hacen que con frecuencia los campos de cultivo aparezcan dispersos, alejados de las poblaciones y mezclados con el bosque. El entorno de la ciudad se vio sin embargo profundamente transformado e intensamente explotado y conocemos su ordenación con detalle.

ABSTRACT

The order of the farmland in the settled areas in the municipality of Mérida suits the traditional distribution in concentric rings. Due to the vast area and the scarce humanization of the municipality and the large number of uncultivated lands and their ploughing when needed, the cultivated lands frequently appear dispersed, far from towns and mixed with forest. Nevertheless, the city surroundings were deeply transformed and intensely cultivated. Nowadays we can know their order in detail.
